Statutory Medicals

Some health assessments are a legal requirement. Crossland Occupational Health Ltd can help you to comply with the legislation by setting up and implementing a policy to cover your employees. 

Hand Arm Vibration Assessment

In industries where there is exposure to vibration at a level where employees are at risk of developing hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) then Crossland Occupational Health Ltd can come into your organisation and implement the required screening. The aim of the screening is to safeguard the health of the employees by identifying symptoms and preventing advancement of the disease.

Crossland Occupational Health Ltd follow the HSE and The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations (2005) and perform screening using questionnaires and physical examinations by practitioners approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

Respiratory Health assessments

A planned programme of assessment is required for workers who are exposed to respiratory sensitisers.  Occupational asthma is an important occupational health problem with serious implications for both affected individuals and their employers. Continued exposure can lead to the condition worsening and becoming fatal. The sooner a problem is identified, the more likely the employee can continue to work. For the employer control of occupational asthma and identification of problems will help to reduce sickness absence, lost production time and compensation payments.

Food Handlers Medicals

Industries producing or handling food have legal obligations under the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations (1995) to prevent food contamination.  Crossland Occupational Health Ltd can implement a system of food handler checks to fit in with your needs.  We usually implement them at pre-employment, at times of ill health, after foreign travel and during routine annual assessments.

These assessments combine paper screening via questionnaires and face to face medicals.

Our programme of screening will help to promote the safety of your product, meet the legislative requirements and promote the health and well-being of your staff.

Lead medicals

When lead and lead compounds are processed, worked or recovered from scrap or waste they can create lead dust, fumes or vapour. This can be absorbed by your body through breathing or swallowing. Exposure to lead can lead to a range of medical problems and if left unchecked can result in kidney, nerve and brain damage.

Crossland Occupational Health Ltd will arrange to see your staff and take the appropriate blood samples and manage the results. We can also provide the appropriate training for staff so that they are aware of their responsibilities and points for good practice. The results will be viewed and discussed with an appointed doctor to ensure the appropriate action and suspension levels are managed as per the legislative requirements. 

DSE vision screening

There is a legal requirement for employees to provide a suitable and sufficient analysis of  workstations" under the The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations (1992).
